Though work I wear out the knees quickly. I cut a patch from some old jeans and attach it with liquid nails. The patch stays on through washings.

Sacrafice the worst pair of jeans he's got and use that for patching the knees of the other jeans you want to keep. You could also use leather patches.

sew patched on them...even jean material will work. Better yet, Leave them torn...it is the style.

They make patches that you just iron on. Use two, one on the inside, and one on the outside. It lasts longer.
