We live in northern New Jersey, and there is a really nice house I am considering to buy.
it is in a high risk zone A flood zone, and i am having second thoughts about giving an offer.
the house is amazing, however.
we are planning to live there for only 5-10 years, so should we do it?
the land is perfectly flat on a .87 acre lot.
there is no basement, but it is a split.

Warm thanks in advance!

I recently moved into a house and noticed puddles of water on my basement floor. I could not figure out where they were coming from. The previous owners had placed a non skid bathtub mat in the bathtub and something told me to pick it up and check under it. Well I discovered where the leaks were coming from. The bathtub had about 4 inch crack in the bottom of it and they had tried to use some kind of fiberglass sealant to fix it, then they placed the mat over it so I could not see it when viewing the house. Can I do anything about this now since I own the house??

Ok so my room is maybe 20' x 20', and it get's dusty as hell. I have a Ionic Pro air purifier, but that doesn't seem to help curb the amount of dust that seems to cover everything. Seriously, I could dust a my desk, and when I turn around it can be layered again...is there anything to reduce the amount of dust other than to keep dusting? It drives me mad!!!

We have little space inside and wanted to keep the freezer on the back porch, which is a cement slab that is under the upstairs deck. There is also an outside plug that we would use beside the door.

Yesterday I was walking inside from the back deck and noticed a whole bunch of very tiny black spots on the deck(nasty) When I looked closer they were moving. I called our local nature center and she told my what they are. I'm so grossed out and I just want to make sure they or okay bugs and not going to come inside my house and if they do they are they a threat to our bodies? Thank you for your time.

I just bought a beautiful new lamp, but the room is quite dark. Would it really be a hazard to increase the wattage in the bulb?

I put in a new light fixture that took me forever. Afterward (duh), I read the packaging and it cautioned that homes built before 1985 may not have the wiring to withstand the heat of the bulb which conducts 90 degree heat. It goes on to say most homes built before 1985 are only wired for lights that emit up to 60 degrees of heat. My home was built in 1981. The wires in my attic read 600 watts. Is that enough to withstand the new light fixture? If not, besides taking it down, is there anything I can do to fix this problem and not burn the place down?

I am looking to buy a new washer and dryer set for an apartment
I am looking at a front loading energy star washer and a standard top loading washer. Is it worth the 100 dollars for the energy star washer or is it going to take 10 years to save me that money back in power and water.

Any advice?

Well,.I live in Guatemala City wich zone temperature can be like 9 withinn the US hardiness zones. I want to plant this tree and I have to import it or maybe I can obtain it by a member of the plantmessenger yahoo group since I cannot find it here. I have brought many plants from other countries with succesful stories to tell but I am just wondering if this species can grow nice here. We have just the rainy and dry season divided in 6 months each one. The temperature in this city fluctuates from 15 to 28 grades centigrades. So, any information will be appreciated!!
