Yesterday I was walking inside from the back deck and noticed a whole bunch of very tiny black spots on the deck(nasty) When I looked closer they were moving. I called our local nature center and she told my what they are. I'm so grossed out and I just want to make sure they or okay bugs and not going to come inside my house and if they do they are they a threat to our bodies? Thank you for your time.

Collembola (aka Springtails) do not pose a threat to humans. They are part of the large community of decomposers that break down and recycle organic waste. You can find springtails under stones in the garden or whenever you turn over compost in your backyard.

Springtails are considered pests in houses, but they are relatively harmless. They can become pests in potted plants but insecticide drenches with permethrin or other insecticide labeled for use in potting soil will effectively control them.

Hope this answered your question.
