when i moved to my first apartment all i had to sleep on the hard floor was a down feather sleeping bag. After the first week ,any romance of roughing it on the floor had all but disappeared and I was craving a bed. A sleeping bag offers minimal padding when sleeping on the floor and if you are a student you will want to get a good nights sleep at night. I would suggest buying a futon, you can fold it out at night and use it to sit on during the day. Also, i f you really are limited in space and need to sleep on the floor, try going to a larger Asian store that sells housewares. They usually had very comfortable mattresses that you can roll up and put in a closet during the day. These mattresses can be from 2 to 5 inches thick and are comfortable. But the main thing is...would you rather get restless sleep and fatigue during the day or spend a few extra bucks and buy something decent to sleep on?

That is a 'no brainer'. Buy the best mattress you can afford. Sleeping bags are fine for 1-2 nites only.
If you can afford a bed frame then try to get a box jspring and mattress. Your back will thank you every morning.

The sleeping bag, if you haven't moved yet. If you already moved you could get a mattress.

Why don't you buy one of those air filled mattresses? You could always deflate it, I have one of the Aerobed mattresses that inflate in just two minutes. I'm not trying to spam or anything, I'm just talking about my experience with the Aerobead. â¥
Oh and its very comfortable.
Alright I won't say anything more. =)

Get a mattress!! It will support your back and if you hook up with someone you will have a nice comfortable place to 'dance' the night away.

If you plan on getting a bedroom set you're better of getting am mattress now. It will feel better and you won't have to worry about getting one later.

Have you ever slept on a bare floor in a sleeping bag before?
I think if you had, you wouldn't be asking this question.
