This is old gum, stuck and piled tight into a low dense carpet.

I got a real good deal on a house. It came on the market after the woman who lived there disappeared and her live-in boyfriend moved out of state. Its a great place except for one thing. The basement has a foul smell. Its not a musty basement smell either. It smells like something is rotting.
I've tried to track down the source. It seems to be coming from a fresh patch of concrete on the floor. Does concrete rot? Did they use the wrong kind of concrete? Is there some kind of sealer I could put on it to block the smell?

I was moving some plants in my home and one of the "clay" pots accidentally fell from my hands onto my wood floors. Now there is a nasty scratch about a foot long.

What is the best way to "hide" this scratch? Can anyone recommend any good product to use on wood floors? (The floor is real wood, not pergo or laminate flooring.)

Thanks in advance and havea wonderful, wood flooring-scratch-free day. :-)

My over-the-sink kitchen window faces a very busy street. I enjoy the natural light and having stuff to look at while I'm standing at the sink (too often!), but I'd also like some privacy.

Note: curtains aren't my style.

My dryer was working fine before I put it into storage 6 months ago. I recently took it out set it up and this is what happened:

Pushed the start button and it just buzzed (sound that is made when load is done.)

It does nothing else at all.

Can anyone give some insight as to what problem I may have with this dryer. The model number is unknown but its a model from the early 90's.

Please no suggestions of calling a service man out. I am looking to find out the problem before doing that. Thanks in advance.

I have just moved into my own place. It was once a home used for a small business. There were spider webs and dirt every where. I have cleaned all that up. But when I'm at home I start to sneeze and get a stuffy nose. Could this be something in the air like dust? Is there any way I can make this home allergy free? Thanks for your time!
