Sounds like the person that installed it if it has not been that long ago didn't pay attention to ampage on fuses and wires. DON'T USE IT AGAIN until you get it rechecked. It can cause a fire.

Typically small explosions and flash (flame) can come from the burner when the electrodes are worn or not adjusted properly.

They usually won't blow fuses.

I think you should have it checked by your oil company or another heater service person. They can even diagnose electrical problems with your installation.

I agree with the others on "get it checked right away".

If your heater is wired in direct, turn it off and get an electrician to check your heater. If your heater is a "plug in" type, take it to an electrician and get it tested. Your life and the lives of those around you is worth more than a cheap heater. If the heater tests ok, get your sockets and wiring tested immediately.

Good luck

You might want to call an electrician, and you may also need to check your electricity and may want it updated.

To use a technical expression, I'd say it was buggered.

You need to have it fixed or to buy a new one.
