I live in a 26 year old mobile home. My orignal water pipes closed up so bad we had to run temporary copper pipes.
This past week those pipes froze and now I need a perminate fix.
I was thinking of running the pipes inside the home and cover them with either a kick board on the floor or mount them on the ceiling covered by a peice of molding.
Anyone ever done this? Can it be done in plastic (poly style pipes) for ease?

I received these really cute PJs for Christmas and the first time I washed them they pants faded out differently than the top and they were washed together too.

Question: Is there a detergent that keeps colors like red from fading that you use/recommend. Also I usually wash clothes in cold water, would warm water be better to prevent fading?

I am building new home and thinking of installing radiant heat. I am only interested in putting it on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the house. Also, the type of boiler I am looking at is the "on-demand" hotwater. What are the pros and cons of radiant heat. I am not using electric as it is way too expensive here in Alaska.

I have what I call a "manual doorbell". Essentially it's a button on the outside of my door under the peep hole that when pushed, moves a lever/arm in a box on the inside of the door striking a tuned piece of metal. It no longer works properly, and is looking old, so now I want to replace it. For the life of me, I cannot find any information online about replacement parts. Homedepot and Lowes both only have electronic doorbell systems which I considered changing too, but there is no wiring at the door and I don't feel like running wires through my walls to get to a junction box. Does anyone know where a replacement can be found?

Hi Team,
I have an internal wall which is painted. There is a large brown stain which allways comes through when painted. I was advised to use gloss paint which hasn't worked. I don't think the stain is damp, it appears to be some sort of adhesivy substance.
I would really appreciate any tips.
many thanks....

and to what temperature? When it was replaced, I think it might have been set conservatively, but on cold, windy days, it takes a really long time for the house to get warm, something I don't remember in the past.

The leak seems to be coming from the wall not the ceiling...there is a large amount of black and green mold. My main concern is identifying the source of the leak any ideas? who should I call a roofer or a mold specialist?

We're looking at a new clothes washer this weekend (woo-hoo!) ;)Considering the wear and tear on clothes, the durability of the drum (life expectancy), and "eco-friendly" (not dispensing toxins onto the clothes), which one is the best to go with?

I got one as a gift for Thanksgiving. The blooms are beginning to drop off (but the rest is still healthy and green). Do I just let them fall off and keep watering it or does it need some cutting? I don't know how to care for this flower. Any help is appreciated.

SAVE WATER! The Hot Water Lobster Instant Hot Water Valve saves, water, time and money. How Long does it take for hot water to get to your faucet or shower? A lot of precious water is wasted down the drain while waiting for hot water. Even worse is the cost to heat the cold replacement water, which enters your house at ground temperature. HOW IT WORKS! When the water in your hot water pipe and the Hot Water Lobster control valve cools below the user adjustable temperature (40-149 degrees F), the thermal materials within the Hot Water Lobster control valve contract, and silently open the valve.

I have a Generac stand-by generator that is about 5 years old and needs the starter replaced. I bought a new starter but I've never done anything like this before. I have exploded view diagrams in my owner's manual and a father-in-law who was a journeyman electrician, but due to his health issues, I would rather do this without his help, if possible.
I've done some mechanical diy stuff, including replacing brakes on my car, but that was with a Haynes manual. Is there anything out there like a Haynes manual for generators?
