I have a Generac stand-by generator that is about 5 years old and needs the starter replaced. I bought a new starter but I've never done anything like this before. I have exploded view diagrams in my owner's manual and a father-in-law who was a journeyman electrician, but due to his health issues, I would rather do this without his help, if possible.
I've done some mechanical diy stuff, including replacing brakes on my car, but that was with a Haynes manual. Is there anything out there like a Haynes manual for generators?

If you can't figure it out, go to the manufacturer's web site and look for a maintenance manual.
