Depends where you live. If you live on the equator, probably don't need one. Just about any where else, it might be a good idea to have one.
New installation I don't really know. But replaceing just the furnace runs as much as $2000 or more depending on the model. New installs would be more because duct work would have to be installed also along with a flue, and gas piping.
Get an estimate from a reputable dealer in your area.

get free quotes and find out which boiler they will install. have a look at different manufacturers websites. we offer complete systems from £1,800, this will depend on which area the property is. As a heating installer and a property developer i would say that houses in need of the most work have the most profit, of course this depends on how involved you want to get and what you want to do with the property when complete.

A very rough estimate for central hreating is about £300 per radiator, and I wouldn't buy a house with no C/H. But it depends on the price and other factors.

Get at least 3 quotes from company's that install the type you are interrested in.The lowest price is not always the best way to go. Talk to other folks who have recently had one installed.Best of luck

Depends on the size of the house, basement or crawl, attic install, etc. 1500-2000 sq. ft. forced air retro fit could run around $3500-$5000. Lot of money but its worth it to be warm. Good luck.

We have recently had a new boiler fitted by British Gas. It cost £4,000 (this only included one new radiator).
