I have an old victorian home. The fireplace in the living room has been sealed up & I was wondering if there are any types of candel holders I can mount to the cement to make it look like there is a fire lit. Is there a web site anyone knows about? Thank you!

My fiancee and I are attacking our second drywalling project. The first time we did our ceiling in the livingroom...and used regular paper joint tape. As time passed, we noticed air pockets appearing along the joints...as if the tape didn't stick very well (or was coming un-done) Now we are doing our entire bedroom...and were steered toward using self-adhesive joint tape(drywall finishing tape)...hoping to solve our taping problems. Now that we have much of the joints taped with this stuff (and 2 coats of lightweight...not quick setting... joint compound on) we are already noticing that the tape is pulling away from the walls. (like air pockets along the joints) What are we doing wrong?

I've procrastinated so long cleaning it up, but I hate to spend my vacation doing that, but I'm sick of the mess! Any good tips on cleaning it up (loads of laundry to do, child's room very messy, think I"m gonna have to clean that up myself). I want to relax, but can't take the mess anymore. Thanks!

I was wondering if you can have two different kinds of wood furniture in a room. if the woods are not dramatically different. Is that a nono?

The last time I ran my dishwasher it started to smell like something was burning so I turned it off. The smell wasn't present the prior time I ran the dishwasher and there is nothing that I can see that got on the heating element. It looks like everything is "plugged in" and "connected" properly under the access panel (now let's be realistic, I have no idea what I'm looking at, but nothing is hanging loose). I would rather not have to pay a repair man, but I have no idea what to check, or for that matter, what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Ah, I can't sleep in this place. And the place next door sounds like a dorm room or frat house. Ugh! Downstairs, the neighbors are just doing regular everyday activity, but the place is so poorly insulated, I can even hear them pretty loudly when they take a shower.

Honestly said since I do learn the subject and practices it, kind of common sense when you use to hang with the thing again and again. I just saw what looked like a large mouse with dark brown or black fur scurry across my kitchen floor into a space between the cabinets .it looked bigger and darker than the field mice we get in as the temperature drops . I have some disposable mouse traps from last year . Which is a better or humane way to get rid of mice, traps or poisened bait?
