Do an internet search for colleges and universities that you could go to. Take as many art classes as you can now in your high school and local community education programs. Keep an idea journal and jot down all of the ideas that come to mind. Tear pictures from magazines and keep them in folders for inspiration.

Take photographs of anything you do and start a simple portfolio. Include your drawings in your portfolio.

Go to the library and read, read, read as much as you can about design, color theory and art. Maybe you can find some college level books at Amazon.com and ask for them as gifts for your birthday.

Call design firms in your area. Tell them you're a high school student researching the profession and see when someone might have some time to answer some questions you have. Be professional with your call.

Good Luck!
