I just saw what looked like a large mouse with dark brown or black fur scurry across my kitchen floor into a space between the cabinets .it looked bigger and darker than the field mice we get in as the temperature drops . I have some disposable mouse traps from last year . Which is a better or humane way to get rid of mice, traps or poisened bait?

Sounds like a rat if it was big. yuck! We had the same problem several years ago (we live on a farm with many barns). We used both, the only thing is if it is a rat, (from personal exp.) and you use a regular mouse trap, it will carry it away. Make sure you are using the right size trap for rats. The downfall of poison is that they can die where you can't find them and boy do they stink. But we have used both methods, that way you know that if one doesn't get it, the other will. If you have indoor pets, make sure the poison and traps are out of their reach. Good Luck

If you want to get rid of the mice, use what ever you can. I moved into a new subdivision a couple of years ago and that first winter we had mice everywhere. I used a newly designed snap trap that I purchased at home depot and it equated to zero suffering. I also put down a lot of poison. The poison dehydrates the mouse, and used glue traps in high traffic areas. It took about three week, but I was able to get rid of them and did not have any problems the following winter.

Good Luck!

It could of been a vole....they have darker fur than a mouse and shoter, furry tails. We had them for a while and their fur looks almost like mink. I use live traps and take them FAR out in the field to turn them loose. Now that I have cats inside, I never see them anymore.

they have glue boards that the rat get stuck and they wiggle until they die ,then the big trap sometimes snap the head off and poison bait ,the only thing about that is if they get poison and die behind the cabinet where you can't find them the smell is terrible doing the holidays, I hate to be cruel but I would have to use the glue board and have someone get it up and trash it

Glue traps are the best method to trap rats and mice. I found detailed information at http://pests.in

use a trap, they kill instantly most of the time. poison is a slow way for the animals to die and you find them mummified behind your furniture.

frequency works sometimes, but cant be good for you long term, it causes cells to vibrate irregularly

Traps. If you poisen them they could die in your walls and stink for weeks.
