This toilet used to be a dream! and then suddenly, it would not flush toilet paper. We use the easiest to dissolve toilet paper in town. We don't have children. There have been no foreign object or feminine products put in the toilet. We thought it may be the vent stack and went up on the roof to clear it only to discover that when the 'roof-over' was put in the mobile home, they did not leave a place for the waste pipe vent. Dare we open the vent pipe in the home behind the wall to find out if that is the problem? If so, how do we seal it back off? And if the toilet has to be snaked EVERY time there is even the smallest bit of toilet paper in it, could it be anything else? My husband thinks a new toilet is the answer; I think if it's the vent stack that we would be wasting money because the problem would still be there. We do not have the money to call a plumber to figure it out.

in a 35X20, 80 year old wood frame house? I'm talking about the internal walls on the first, second, or third floor, not basement. I want to move the rooms around in this apartment. The present landlord tells me there are no load bearing walls, and I could make the space into one large 700 sq foot room if I wanted.

I will get a pro to check it out eventually, I just want to know if this is uncommon or not before going much further.

Thanks!

I am an empty-nester, living in a city apartment in zone 5. I really miss my mixed borders and have started container gardening out on my terrace. Annuals just don't do it for me, and I have had success with containers of daylilies, hosta, astilbe, lilac and PJM Rhododendrons. Can anyone recommend some good books or web sites on growing perennials in containers? Thank you!

I painted the mantel, doors and windows in my living room, first with Kilz, then with a latex, high gloss paint. The paint looked terrible, very streaky. I let it dry overnight thinking that it may look better this morning. It didn't ! While looking at the mantel I noticed a nail that I missed in my prep work when I pulled out the nail off came the paint. In large sheets back down to the original white paint even the Kilz is peeling off. What did I do wrong, and how do I fix the mess I've made?

Our guttering feeds into next doors guttering which has not been maintained for some time. The pipes are obviously blocked which cause rain water to fall on to our flat roof. Is it our responsibility to pay for half of the cost of replacing it? The blocked guttering is all on his property. We have replaced ours. If our neighbour continues to refuse to maintain his property can we take action? Many thanks.
