with respect and no offense meant, consider that garments, etc, might have required pieceing and stitching thousands of years before that was accomplished by machines. That would include weaving etc.
Assume for a moment that Pre history humans usually did the WRAP thing. They may have noticed that a strand of leather tied about the wrap, helped hold it in place? They may have also evolved,,,,OBVIOUSLY,,, to the point at which, sleeves were thought of and included, and opening the length of the torso may have needed to be closed up at times, for temperature or modesty issues?
I suspect none of us today can give you the exact moment when all that evolution took place, but archaeology, shows us that BONE needles were being used Eons before the "Singer" family came along.
