I have these "vintage" umbrellas that belonged to my grandmother. They are in perfect shape, but they have a 3 or so inch metal "rod" out the top of them. Im assuming it's just for decoration, but isn't that dangerous when there is lightning?
My daughter likes to use them when it's raining, but it makes me to nervous, am I just being paranoid?

I am looking into plant lights for my orchids and am wondering what T5 lights are and how they compare with other fluorescents. What are the differences and how do I figure out how many (of either) to purchase?

Thanks

I just moved to an old neighborhood and I have an area for a garden of 12 feet by 12 feet area with structures on only the north and east sides. I just built (okay my husband and dad helped), a garden shed with large windows. I would like to grow a garden from seeds early inside. Any suggestion or warnings would be appreciated.

When I turn off the heat on the thermostat my shower becomes normal again (can control the heat setting). I even had my landlord turn down the water heater and the problem still continues.

Any tips on how to personalize prospective "areas" for each child? The room is a redone attic-with pitched ceilings and a great big window and walk in closet w/ window. Beds are on seperate walls and sides of room.
