I have these "vintage" umbrellas that belonged to my grandmother. They are in perfect shape, but they have a 3 or so inch metal "rod" out the top of them. Im assuming it's just for decoration, but isn't that dangerous when there is lightning?
My daughter likes to use them when it's raining, but it makes me to nervous, am I just being paranoid?

there is a chance for lightning to strike a human and I would guess the same for winning the lottery. However, There usually is a plastic, wooden or rubber handle that one holds onto. This is lightning proof.
