Is it worth it for a whole back yard?

Where do you live. Temperatures below 20 degrees usually kills it. If it even occasionally gets that cold I would not waste my time. Also, as mentioned it isn't as sturdy as grass. On the other hand, it usually stays green longer than grass in dry seasons. So if you're not going to walk on it and it never goes below 20, you can take a shot.

Very tough in hot sunny situations but not very durable to be walked on all the time. Also needs water to look good.
