The higher the wool content, the better the quality. It is very hard-wearing too, and has a nicer appearance and feel than nylon. And despite what has been previously said, carpets have made a huge comeback in the last few years. It's the blonde wood laminate floors of the nineties that are now looking terribly dated.

80/20 every time. I have an 80/20 wilton carpet 30 yrs old, that shows NO signs of wear. Did cost an arm and a leg but is quality through and through. Stuff spilled on it just sits on the top the pile is so dense. But you'll get 80/20 wool/nylon mix ranging from maybe £25 to £60 or more sq. yard. (ok, could be sq metre... :-) I've never been disappointed, with 80/20 carpets,... I have with most other types.

80 20 Wool Carpet

Wool is usually woven tighter and more densely packed. In rugs, wool is much better quality. When it comes to carpet, stick your fingers in it. Pull it apart and choose the one with the most twists. The more dense it is, the longer it will look full and new. Nylon will be a little easier to clean, but not enough that I would sacrifice a good twist. The issue with wool carpet is that it will shed a lot for the first month.

As with anything else....Don't go for a cheap option especially with carpet. The man made fibre type 100% nylon etc; are easy to clean but if you don't have heavy dirty traffic ...young children spilling juice etc; Go for 80/20 every time ..Look for a good pile density ..It will be marked on the sample or on the display somewhere and go for the best you can afford. Ulster Carpets are an excellent brand and most good makers do a broad range of density options in 80/20 ..Hope this helps

80/20 is the higher wool content, but wool wears out more quickly than nylon. So it really doesn't matter pick the one you like the best.

GO STRAIGHT 100% NYLON W/ A HEAT TWIST, IT WILL CLEAN UP GREAT, WON'T CRUSH/MATT. I HAD TO LEARN THE HARD WAY TILL I ASKED MY CARPET SUPPLIER WHAT WAS THE BEST WAY TO GO INEXPENSIVELY. RAISED THREE KIDS ON IT ( NYLON) HAD VOMIT & RED JUICE STAIN ALL OVER, HAD TO CLEAN IT B-4 SELLING HOUSE. TO NY AMAZEMENT IT ALL CAME OUT! LOOKED LIKE NEW - 5 YEARS OLD!

i do in contrast to wall to wall carpet for the reason that I even have pets, and that i think that it could never be wiped clean precise. I desire a not common floor floor with area rugs which could be sent out for cleansing. in case you have ever bumped off wall to wall carpet, you have seen how plenty airborne dirt and dust etc is caught interior the underpad and under it.
