My lawn is way to big, to much work, water bill is to high. But I still want my house & yard to look good. Any suggestions?

The holes are about 2-3" round, show no soil above the ground like moles do and they are everywhere! I live near Portland, Oregon.

We want to build a retaining wall at the front of our property that is sloped down to the sidewalk. At the moment there is just landscape timber that is rotting and only about 12in tall. Just wondering if anyone knows of a website detailing how to do it yourself, great products or helpful tips. We were thinking of terracing and filling in with plants, but we can not find step by step info on how to do this.

I have a new house. The window frames are not caulked on the outside where the vinyl siding butts to the window frame. Should they be caulked? Seems like a blowing rain would get behind the siding.

From the end of the abdomen was a narrow, pointed appendage. At first this animal appeared to be a large, flat roach.

I was told about Melaleuca products, but I don't know anything about them or any other products that may be better. I just don't want the harmful chemicals in my home any longer. If anyone has any feedback on which products to use/don't use I'd greatly appreciate it.

I live in the southern USA and am considering putting gutters onto the existing roof of our house. I don't know why there are no gutters on the roof now (houses nearby with the same floor plan have them), a previous owner must not have wanted to pay for them when the roof was repaired. Whatever the reason, it was a terrible decision, you cannot get into the house when it is raining without getting very wet. It is a two story house with a very simple roof line (no corners or bends). What is the typical cost to install a 30' gutter?

I have about 407 sq ft total I want done and will probably go with somebody like Home Depot, Lowe's, Lumber Liquidators, etc.

So besides the cost of the flooring, about how much do they charge per sq ft for installation?

My lease ends August 31st and I would like to vacate July 31st. I understand that I will probably loose my security deposit which is enough to cover that last months rent. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't run into any other issues.

In elementary school in the late 1940s, we learned how lightning rods worked and how essential they were to protect houses from lightning fires. And sure enough, back then every house had a lightning rod sticking up from the roof. These days, however, I can't remember the last time I saw such a device. We've never had one on the two houses we've owned over the past 20 years.

Whatever happened to lightning rods, and are they necessary to divert lightning strikes away from buildings and into the ground?
