I HATE the smell of Febreeze. Are there any similar products for carpets that don't smell Febreeze-y?

That product does not clean the carpet, it's just a perfume to cover up other odors. I despise the odor of the stuff. For my carpets, I bought a shampooer, and use it twice a year. I use an anti allergan carpet shampoo and that keeps odors minimal. Sometimes I shampoo the living room a third time, if spring weather is nice and sunny and I can air out the house (wet carpets don't dry well in damp weather). I much prefer using a product that removes dirt and soil from the carpets, rather than just adding another odor. Febreeze is like wearing perfume. It does nothing to clean the fabric, it just stinks the place up.

In my experience, sprinkling on baking soda products is a waste. They too just add perfumes, and do not remove the cause of the odors which is dirt. Wash the rugs and the odors go away.

I hate it, too.

You can sprinkle baking soda on the carpets and vacuum it up after a minute or 2..

i don't know of anything that sprays on like Febreeze but doesn't smell like that.

Febreeze also sells reduced scent and scent free products. I've bought them here in Canada before because I have troubles with strong scents.

There are store brands of Febreeze at nearly all stores. I googled and found that All and Whirlpool apparently make them. Also...there's a homemade 'recipe' for it at http://www.ehow.com/how_9124_make-own-air.html

I use arm and hammer carpet and room odor eliminator. May have too much fragrance for you though.

i use a spray called ALL, it smells really good
