These critters have been the bane of my existance. Hubby traps gophers and moles but we don't seem to stay ahead of their repoduction rate. This spring gophers have started coming above ground to trim off the branches of mums and salvia to drag down their holes (this is a new form of warfare for them). We live in rural location on a couple of acres. We recently found a lot of gopher and mole holes under the house.
We have stuck the hoses down the holes to flood them out, but that made the ground too wet.We tried moth balls without much success. People have recommended pouring motor oil down the holes, but I don't want to polute the water table.Poison is not an option due to pets.
Has anyone had any success in this area? Is there a systemic or topical treatment that is safe and effective?
