It's the size of a sparrow. Beige colouring (or flecked), yellow flash on wings. Might have a black and white tail and has a red crest on it's beak. It's lovely. Serious answers only.

Definitely a goldfinch. Often with more than one and loves to eat thistles and teazles. Twitters a bit but doesn't sing.

From the description you've given it sounds like some kind of Finch. Go onto the RSPB website for a fast answer. For future reference buy yourself a basic bird book.
