My house varies from 40 to 45% in the summer. I would think that is about what you should have in a finished basement. Maybe a bit more depending on your geographical location.

Whatever happens to be comfortable for you.... if you feel it is too damp, then get a dehumidifier. MOST basements, tend to be too humid. Reducing the humidity level will help control that 'sticky, damp' feeling to everything, and help prevent the growth of mold.

Some folks tend to have sinus problems if the air gets too humid, or too dry, so a lot of it is dependent on your own comfort level.

40 - 45% is acceptible for finished basement. Too damp, and bugs and molds will grow. Drier than that will burn out the dehuimidifier sooner.

Not alot unless you have some nice wood trim down their.Wood shrinks in the winter and expands in the summer. You want to keep the moisture up in the winter to prevent gapping wood floors etc.
