I have about 407 sq ft total I want done and will probably go with somebody like Home Depot, Lowe's, Lumber Liquidators, etc.

So besides the cost of the flooring, about how much do they charge per sq ft for installation?

$2.00 dollars a square foot, you might be able to get it for $1.50 a square foot if your having it finished too but that costs extra.I didnt know if you were putting in pre finished flooring or raw wood.$2.00 dollars a square for installs. Michigan.Forgot thats just labor.

prices are often in the $3-$5/sq ft range - for installation. The floor is typically in the $1 - $6/sq ft range depending on type and quality.

It is pretty easy to do yourself if you use prefinished engineered wood or laminate flooring.

Don't use HD - sometimes they use reputable contracters, often they don't

We paid $1,400 (included price of laminate flooring) to have it installed in our 21' x 11' family room. We use a self-employed man who does tile and other flooring. He works from his home so he doesn't have additional overhead.
We once thought of hiring a Home Depot installer to install a door and found the price outrageous. We live in Southwest Florida; perhaps you can find such a person. Ask a neighbor whose opinion you value. That is what we did.

It can easily be 15 per sq depending on the type of plank, wide, narrow, or a laminate. It is not that difficult to put down a new floor. I did it and it came out quite good. Took longer than a pro, but I saved hundreds on doing it myself.

I would look for a contractor. These places usually charge and arm & a leg for such installation. Independent contractors, or a qualified handy man might be least expensive. Call the better business bureau for a list of reputable contractors.
