Sounds like a common earwig.

I dont know what it is about earwigs but I hate those things. You pull off a piece of old bark and they are all over the place. Like cockroaches

It is called a VINEGARONE. It is in the scorpion family. We have them here in Texas where I live. I have never seen anyone get bitten by one; nor have I been bitten by one, so I don't know if they do or not. But they look nasty enough to stay away from.

this is a ear wig it it is bad news but it loves wet places so roll up a wet newspaper and put where you saw them if there is one there is more keep it cleaned
