We want to build a retaining wall at the front of our property that is sloped down to the sidewalk. At the moment there is just landscape timber that is rotting and only about 12in tall. Just wondering if anyone knows of a website detailing how to do it yourself, great products or helpful tips. We were thinking of terracing and filling in with plants, but we can not find step by step info on how to do this.

Honestly for a wall that tall and long you may want to consider having a professianal do it. I have looked at pleanty of web sites and could tell you the steps to take but for a wall that big you might spend more $$ up front having it done for you but you will save time and money in the long run. Plus it is alot of work!!
Good Luck
