A good way to clean is first of all not to have any distractions or anything more fun to do. Turn off the tv and computer, and only have music on. Instead of looking at the whole mess, (which makes it seem like a huge job) just focus on one area. clean up that little area as if it was the only plalce to live, put everything in the right place, even if you have to look for it.
Don't just put it in a differnet spot for later. hold that item and don't give up until you find it's rightful spot, but don't get sidetracked by the messiness in the rightful spot. Go back to your area and continue. It may not be a fast way, but it's the best way, and the clean-ness you end up with lasts longer.

she has a great system. start like this. A couple of things:
Clean your sink. Until it is empty and clean.
You will feel better already.
The fling boogie: walk thru your house find 12 things to throw away, 12 things to give away and 12 things to put away. And stop when you get to 12 of each. Don't do more!!
The timer: set the oven timer on 5 min (or 10 or 15 but NOT MORE THAN 15) and just work on one thing for that number of minutes. When the timer goes off, stop. It could be the bathroom, the coffee table, the dining table, laundry, the counters, the kitchen floor or whatever. Just ONE THING. And only for 15 minutes MAX. you have to stop when the time is up.
Work for no more than what the timer says. Tomorrow you can do 15 minutes on someething else, maybe the cupboards or the dishes or the catbox.
Take it slow, little bites, littel pieces, it will take several weeks but in 15 min a day you can get your house all cleaned up.

You just have to get up and get it done. If you go throught your place and give it a real good cleaning it will make you feel so much better. Something I do is one day a week I clean my house really well and when I make a mess I pick it up before I sit down or go out. The rest off the week I set the timer for 10 mins and tidy a room or two a day. That way it stays clean. Then come cleaning day there isn't much to do. Makes the day that much better.

Here is a book: "Organizing from the Inside Out" Julie Morgenstern who has been seen on Oprah and Dr. Phil. Most of the time when it has been a mess for a long time there may be some reasons that escape you right away because you have not thought about it. Internal anguish. Look it up on www.drphil.com and also look up the book on the internet. Julie Morgenstern begins by getting to the crux of the problem. You.
Good Luck

FIRST make a priority list that has CHECK OFF boxes includes. Example: Take out trash, Clean out refrigerator, mop floor.
This will give you something to look forward to accomplishment.
Secondly, get three boxes label one-'Give Away', label two-"Trash", label the third one-'Keep'.
Go into each room and use your boxes accordingly. On the keep box simply take into each of the other rooms and put back in it rightful place.
Try this and see what occurs!

I have the same problem......low motivation....I think it overcomes us at a particular age.
Line up your cleaning supplies, turn on the stereo to YOUR music and dance while cleaning your house....of course, it usually helps if you are alone in the house......It works.....and it is a good motivation.....you can finish....light candles, and enjoy!
Your friend,
Cat

When I need motivation, I go for a walk first, or I get out my bible and meditate for a short while, then I dig in to the task at hand. I usually get done faster and am more pleased with myself, and thanks to the walk, I usually feel a little more energy. Good luck.

Oh boy do I feel your pain!
I have had to play games with myself to get myself to do things.
Join flylady.com as one suggestion.
Also, set one major goal per day to start. I will do ____, which will be minor to others but major to you.
Also know you are not alone. I think it is a bit of depression, since I am usually very energetic.
Also, I do better when I take iron supplements.
Good luck!

Start inviting people over. You don't want them to see your place looking like that so you will need to keep it clean.
