The absolute best method is trapping. Don't listen to any of the b.s. home remedies. Juicy fruit doesn't work. Most poisons don't work because of a moles lack of a chewing jaw apparatus plus they have a unique metabolisom that renders most rodenticides ineffective. There is a new rodenticide called talpirid that has shown some promise. It is specifically designed to target mole physiology. It comes in the form of artificial worms that are designed to attract moles, they mimic its food source. Some people will tell you to apply grub control to eliminate the moles food. This can sometimes have the opposite effect of causing the moles to dig more tunnels looking for food that was plentiful before. This will not work if your lawn has a high population of earth worms also. There is nothing to put on a lawn to target worms nor is it legal to do so. Earthworms are beneficial to the soil. Buy some traps and start setting them. Dead moles in the traps will let you know that you are at least reducing the population. No other method provides such concrete results.

Here is a safe humane way to rid your yard of gophers and moles. Take a 5 foot piece of 2" pvc pipe, put about 4 1/2' of it into the hole, following the direction of the tunnel. Using your waterhose flush the pipe until the water stops flowing out the top(this will remove all the dirt from the pipe), then pour about 1-2 cup of mothballs into it followed by 3 cups of vinegar directly behind the mothballs, remove the pipe and cover the hole to keep the scent locked inside. Repeat this for each hole you see. This works by a chemical reaction when the vinegar comes in contact with the mothballs, it produces a gaseous vapor that runs the moles away from their burrow. Each time you see a new mound repeat this process, eventually they'll take the hint and move on. A gopher or mole tunnel is very deep and can actually go for miles. Good Luck!!!

There is a plant called a Mole Plant. I had a couple of them when I owned my home. I didn't see that many moles because of it. I also put out mothballs around the mole holes.

my parents used to chew juicy fruit and then would go to where the mound would come up and dig a hole down, drop the chewed gum in there. The moles would eat the gum and couldn't digest it, ultimately dying. A little cruel, but after the catch and release traps didn't work, the gum thing did. The gum has to be chewed for some reason because unchewed didn't work.

The cat killed it. Trouble is she left it in the flower bed. A friend from church said she read somewhere that a whirligig drives them away. They hear the noise in the ground and it sends them away. She had bought a whirligig and the moles disappeared. She didn't put it together until she read the article some time later.

Moles eat slugs, so you treat the yard for slugs, but I'm not sure how you go about it.
