I dream bad/scary dreams very often, specially when I sleep until noon. Dreams are like something horrible is running after me, sometimes dog, snake, accident, medical surgery etc. I don't want to know the meaning of dreams, because that will get worried more. I just want to have a dreamless sound sleep and to have a good & stress free day. Any suggestion please.

I'm looking for an easy read book or workbook, maybe one that contains positive quotes/messages that can help me gain confidence and raise my self-esteem. Any recommendations I would greatly appreciate. Thanks!

Most behaviors which cause us "personal" problems, also keep us isolated and/or prevent us from giving more to others. Of course, behavior is ingrained due to learning, and continual use. But do you feel that certain behaviors such as addictions, avoidance, social fears, ect, are rooted in selfishness? Often it's not intentional, and this "selfishness" may be caused by past abuse, abandonment, ect, but is it possible, the foundation of the problem, is our inability to see beyond our own pain and needs?

Or do you feel there are other reasons which prevent us from changing negative behaviors? Many people say these are defense mechanisms, ways of coping, ect. And this all may be true, but isn't that still complete preoccupation with self? We can only behave based on our level of maturity, and we can only change after we've matured, so this question is not to blame anyone, just to get all of your thoughts. These are questions that have come up on my journey of growth.

'm on 600mg of Seroquel per day. i've been taking this medication for many months and i'm aware of the short and semi-long term affects. but what happens in long term? like not 5 or 10 months. i mean years. i'll be taking this medication for the rest of my time here unless something beter comes along, so i'd like to know XP. also.. i'm on 20mg of Lexapro a day. it was 10mg for 4 weeks then 20mg after that. and its been many months just like the Seroquel. i was wondering if someone could suggest a different medication. an anti-depressent that preferably dosen't have a high chance of suicidal thought side affects, but one that actually works XP.... like really works... Lexapro dosen't help at all... i told the doctor guy that and he bumped me up to 20mg. but its still not working.

The stronger I grow, the more I've began to notice, that many internet support groups, are not really helping people. Of course, when one is not thinking clearly, is feeling lonely, and no one is there, communicating with others who feel the same may give the ILLUSION of support, but it's really ENABLING dysfunctional behavior, and contributing to isolation if there is no action.

I belong to a few groups ran by moderators, who have been posting years about the same problems, isues, ect. They have all the answers, know what should be done, and have made small steps, but they are basically where they were when they started the group. Sadly, people join these groups, and follow the same patterns. It's unbelievable, almost insanity. Retelling the same painful stories, over, and over, but making no major changes.

Also, the moment someone posts an optimistic message, and would prefer to discuss the pain, but empowerment as well, they are almost ostracized, or viewed as a threat.

I suffer from social phobia, and I'm dealing with abuse from my past. I visit support groups online, and people with the same problems will meet daily for months, years, explaining how they have no friends, how no one is there, and how much they really wish they could "meet" others like them. But when the opportunity arises, they NEVER take advantage of it? I have tried to plan safe public meetings, and these people will always cancel at the last minute, or show no interest in attending a group near their home, with people exactly like them. I just don't get it.

I sometimes wonder, if people just enjoy talking about their pain, or just want to compare who has the worst life. I can understand fear of meeting people who don't understand, or people who are not going through what you are. But why the reluctance to meet the people you're complaining to everyday, with the same issues and fears? Especially when you keep saying, I wish we all could meet. Confused in Illinois.

I have been on anti-depressants for over five years. I would really like to get off them, as this is the only medication I have ever taken for an extended period of time.
I've tried on my own before, but inevitably the depression that followed was worse than the one before.
I was told that it can work if it's done properly, but I'm simply afraid that with no medicine, I'd get depressed quickly again due to whatever goes on in my life.
There is a history of clinical depression in my family.
Has anyone done this successfully? Any advice?

I've been using it for a few months to work on some self-esteem issues, as well as to help resolve some relationship problems I've been having. I find that it works, but sometimes better than other times. If you've used EFT, what types of issues have you used it for? What has been your success?
