Yep! I got some neighbors who has a bunch of kids that could be classified as feral. These kids are one step away from being carted to the dog pound!

I watched that program also, very interesting and strange. I see where you are going with your questioning...maybe a persons upbringing could, but they are families where one child is very shy and backwards and another child is outgoing. I realise now that as a child I had social anxiety, but my other siblings dont have it. Mine does get better when I take medication for it. So to me, it would be more of a chemical imbalance.
But feral children were extreme cases, who never recovered to be "social" in mainstream society.

YES, YES, YES! There is little evidence that a chemical imbalance is the source of these kinds of problems. The drug companies have the money and power to convince people of this though. There are things you can learn to improve your anxiety, depression, and sense of self.

Check out this website for info on the farce of the medical model of these conditions and how harmful many of these drugs can actually be:

There is a great book to help with these kinds of problems called:
When Panic Attacks by David D. Burns, M.D.

It's the best $15 you'll spend and it will help, if you are willing to try the techniques. Best of luck!

I didn't watch it. Do you mean children who grew up in the wild and were raised by wolves, etc? There is a very famous french child discovered in the 1800's raised by wolves. It's very interesting, they have diminished language capacity.
