A "think positively book" is not going to help you unless you do something about it. Some times medication can help but I have found that the best way to break an "orgy of negativity" is to force yourself to think positive thoughts about positive events in your life.
It is hard and when you relax your will to think positively you relapse into thinking negative. But once you get positive going don't relax your will because what you think effects the feeling of depression. This depression is causing you to think negatively which in turn causes deeper depression which in turn .... and so on!
The thing that causes a depression to start is an act, remark or memory (that you dwell on) which results in a lowering of your feeling and knowledge of your self worth. You stop feeling good about yourself!
Things that are positive are things ( like memories of pleasant things or words and acts by others) that let you know you are loved and appreciated. It is vital that a person KNOW they are loved. Then you will start feeling good about yourself!

Fill your time. I used to get really depressed, but between school, work, an instrument, and 3 sports, I don't have time to dwell on little stupid things anymore. Reading self-help books only make you more depressed because you realize that you're a nutcase. So... just find some acticities to do, talk with your friends, let go and laugh once in awhile. And remember, life is short, so quit wasting it worrying about the little things, especially stuff you can't control. Good luck, I'm rooting for you!

Make you a "Gratitude" list. What things do you truly have to be grateful for? Health, job, children, spouse, friends, warm home, parents....Their are many people less off than yourself. God provides what we need as we need it...look within. Meditation could really change this around but it takes effort and patience. Medication for a chemical imbalance may also help. Much Luck, keep your head up high, there is only one of you!!

Go to place where you can be volunteer to help some poor people, and you will see how lucky and positive you are.
