Frightened tiny me, a child,
Looking down from theheights of my egotism.
I love you, don't hurt me.
Do you bite? I should have wailed.
I should have cried. I should have told.
But I walled myself up in a mountain of pride.
Me - I will survive. I love you, don't hurt me
I love you. you can't hurt me.
Do you bite? Hate no longer bars the door
but fear still holds thekey.
Walled up in a mountain of pride,
how will I come out? one step at a time,
carefully, slowly, waiting and watching.
Are you safe or do you bite? I am alone, dreadfully alone.
And yet I am safe, safe from life. I love you, don't hurt me.
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see an arrogant fool or a wounded child?
I will be smart, smarter than all of them.
They will come to my mountain and see.
But don't get to close or the mountain will fall.
I'm only dust. Can't you see?
Did the black leather fool you?
The whistles and bells, the knife?
I am a run-away, a run away from life.
Then Jesus said, come unto Me.
Can He be trusted? Will He bite?
A skittish colt, and angry spoiled child,
An outlaw whose run too long. frightened tiny me.
Will I trust Him. Wait and see.
One day at a time, I will emerge.
One step at a time, I will enter life.
