Sadly, this is like a catch22 thing to have - That is to say that a large part of it is caused by stress, if you removed the stress and ate properly you will find it all but dissapears - the catch 22 is how you get rid of the stress .. maybe that should be your next question because lm not good at that type of advice.

Good luck!

Sure do. There is a supplement that literally stops IBS in its tracks, whether the trigger is stress or otherwise. I suffered for many years and tried everything out there, including verious digestive complexes, to no avail, until I found this inexpensive and completely effective solution. I went from 18 liquid bowel movements in the morning before leaving the house to perfectly normal in less than a week. Previously I had to quit 2 jobs due to the bowel issues that would flare up with stress.

That was 5 months ago and everything is still working perfectly. All you do is take one capsule with breakfast and one with supper. That's it. With regards to the responder who said 'if you manage the stress you manage the i.b.s.' that is way too much of an oversimplification and that person is probably unaware of the complexities of the illness. I taught stress management and was considered an expert and practiced what I preached; the condition did not go away.

Gestazyme tablets are specially constructed to release pepsin, papain, amylase and betaine hydrochloride in the digestive system where these factors are most active. The betaine hydrochloride provides hydrochloric acid supplementation to ordinary gastric secretions. The pancreatin (which digests protein, fats and starches) and the ox bite extract (which enhances the fat digesting activity and absorption of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K) are enterically coated for release into the small instestine.

I'll add a link for the cheapest source of this product.

You answered your own question. It is "caused by stress", so stop trying to cure the symptom, and deal with the cause.
I get easily stressed myself, so I know it is not easy, but here are things that have actually worked for me:

Take a few minutes in the evening to lay out your clothes for the next day, pack a lunch or set out your lunch money, set out (in the same spot each night) whatever you carry to work or school, and anything else you will need.
Now you will sleep more restfully, knowing that you don't have to rush around and find things. Good sleep will help you handle stress better.

Avoid things that stress you out when you can, and develop coping strategies for the stressors you can not avoid.

Carry a bit of paper with some writing on it at work or school. If someone you do not want to talk to stops you, say, "I'm sorry, but I really must get this to someone right away." Act apologetic and walk off quickly as though you have somewhere important to be.

If you can not avoid the stress, try to imagine it flowing over and past you like a wave. (When you are at the beach, if you try to go into the water by shoving your way past the breakers you are just going to get knocked down, whereas if you bend down a bit and let the breakers wash over you, you can get out a lot easier.)

Whenver you can, (which is almost anytime and everywhere) practice controlled breathing. You can feel the stress leaving your body, and it is so relaxing.

Check out the site listed below, and may you have a peaceful day.

If you manage the stress, you manage the I.B.S. There are behavioral health psychologists who specialize in this form of treatment. You might want to consider consulting one to see if they offer treatment you might be willing to try.

IBS has no cure, but you can do things to relieve symptoms. Treatment may involve
diet changes
medicine
stress relief
You may have to try a combination of things to see which works best for you.

I suffered from the same until I stopped eating things made from plain - or refined - flour. Have wholemeal instead cut down on everything else that has lots of refined carbohydrates and you'll see the difference straight away.
