Injuries - November 2007

I was dancing in movement class and I stepped on it strange. I think I heard some cracks. I made an appt. at the doctors for next tuesday. Thats a week away. I walked on it all day yesterday and now I cry when I even stand on it. Do i go to the ER and get an X-ray or wait until next Tuesday. Is there anything else I can do besdies ice it and elevate it? Should i get an ACE bandage or something like that? Should I take advil or pain releavers I haven't yet.

I broke my big toe a week ago so they put me on antibotics. I had an infection because a piece of the bone in my toe chipped off. I took all of the antibotics. Two days after I finished them a large lump appeared on same foot but on the bottom of my foot. Just curious if this is related. Can a bone fragment move?

I got to help my brother move tomorrow so I can earn some cash. And I really need to do this!! I sprain my left ankle walking my pit bull plus I have had a couple 24'oz. budweisers so I was a little tipsy cause I don't drank much. It swelled a little. I'm just asking what should I do to speed the process of healing any home remedies out there?? my gf wrapped it. And my toes are going numb a little. Thanks I don't know what to do at all please help!!!!

i bumped my toe into the stairs and my toe nail got ripped off. right now im cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide but how do you clean with it? i pour it into a tissue and try to wipe the toe. i want to stop using it and use my neosporin ointment. after i cleaned it i put a stertile bandaid over it. what else should i do or sholudnt do? does it hurt when putting peroxide on it?

errm so i've got this bruise on my hip/waist,and it's kinda bleeding under the skin..is it common for bruises to bleed like this?or should i get it checked out?

This weekend i was exposed to many cold hours in front of a scout bonfire with lots of smoke inhalation.

Now i just choked on water as i occassionally do and coughed up blood. I doubt it will happen again so i am wondering if i should wait it out since it might only be surface damage from second-hand bonfire smoke or should i call a doc?

PS. the last 3 times i went to the doc were for common ailments that just needed time to heal so i am reluctant to drop everything right now and go.



PSS. If you have no idea - don't bother answering. (If you just need the points - your priorities are whacked - but put a dumb answer in - just don't try too hard.)

My 6 year old broke his wrist right at his ulna on Friday doing something stupid. I was surprised they put a soft temporary cast on him at the ER. They said that we had to wait 2-3 days before having a cast on. I have to call the Orthopedic surgeon in the morning. What will they do with him? I am 34 and my husband is 34 we both have never had a broken bone. How do I give my son a bath so he does not get it wet? We have been wiping him down before bed, but he needs to get a real bath. Any help would be appreciated. Also he broke his dominant wrist for writing.

10 weeks ago I had a lot of knee cartilage removed & did the first 9 weeks of PT without any real problems. Last week my "bad" knee started giving me intense pain while bearing weight. Not when at rest, but only when walking or spinning on a bike. No new injury has occurred. How do I rebuild the muscles around the knee? I have 4 weeks of PT left so far & I seem to be regressing. Can steroids & / or HGH help me? So far my surgen says "no"...

i injured my little finger today at football , it was accidently kicked by a player and it has now swollen upto twice the size and hurts with bruising round the middle bit of the finger and theres some slight pain down that side of my hand , is this normal for this to happen ? what signs should i look out for if somthing is seriously wrong? i can move my finger but cant bend it becuase of the swelling i took some asprin about 2 hours ago to help and what are the chances of me developing a blood clot from an injury like this?

I was walking down the stairs when my friend yelled my name and surprised me. This caused me to land on my foot funny in a way that bent my ankle 90 degrees toward the left. This morning I can move my ankle fine but the top of my foot is still swollen from the impact and it hurts pretty bad...is this a sprain or a fracture?

I have a dead toenail, under it a new toenail is growing.
the dead one is mostly off, but the part that isn't off will hurt to take it off. is there any way i can take it off that won't hurt? or won't hurt as much?

Roughly how much does it cost for the ER visit and follow-up(s) (New York, no insurance). With 6 x-rays and no surgury will it be much more than $1,000 before any discounts, haggling, aid...?

I went to tackle this guy hit him in the legs went back a little my leg got stuck in the turf and he and a 300lb teammate of mine feel on top of me and my knee bent back and my ankle too, neither is very swollen but i do not have much flexibility of strength in them. I can barely put my weight on them and struggle walking i was hoping someone else has done this before and could help me figure out what to do? thanks

20 days ago I was in a car accident and broke my foot in multiple places. I am now lying in bed with my foot up. When I walk with crutches or even sit up I feel my foot like a plastic bag being filed up with water. Although it doesn’t hurt It immediately becomes dark red and starts swelling. Is this normal?
