I've had problems with my achilles tendon since about April last year. I've been giving it breaks where I'm not doing ANYTHING whatsoever, but when I go back to walking a whole lot or dancing (I do ballet, pointe, and tap) it starts bugging me a whole lot.
I went to my regular doctor in May when it first started hurting (I still don't know what caused it to flare up), and he said that I'd have to go to a sports medicine doctor who specialized in foot injuries since resting it hasn't helped.
I've cut back on my dancing (I still go twice a week like I always have, I'm just not doing all the stuff that causes it to hurt the most), and have wrapped my ankle in an ACE bandage when I'm dancing, and iced it down when I get home, but it still hurts just as much.
Is there a chance that I'll have to stop dancing for a long time (like more than a few weeks?) Or that I'll get put oncrutches or anthing? I realy don't want to give up dancing since it's the only exercise I get.

I was in a car wreck in 2002 and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Everything works but I can't walk or talk plainly, and it hurts really badly to raise my right arm above my head. I've tried everything even getting in our pool daily. Nothing works. Any ideas?

I broke my leg at football like 3 weeks ago. Me and my friends usually like to walk around my town (to taco bell, everyone's house etc.) Since i broke i have not tried walking far. Is it a good idea to try this, or should i wait longer. (Its like 2-4 blocks.)

My husband broke a bone in his foot and is in a cast. Would it be helpful for him to take a calcium supplement to help the bone heal better/faster?

I broke my right wrist and forearm about a week ago playing football. It is a double fracture, had to go through surgery and the doctor gave me a full arm cast to wear for 2-3 months. Before the break, I lifted constantly and was making big improvements. Now, once i get my cast off, I know my right arm will be extremely weak and ill have a long ways to go before i can get back to my former self. I guess I have a few questions. 1. Should I just lift my left arm for the moment with light weights and catch up with my right arm later? 2. If i was maxing 215 before how much do you think my max would fall after 3 months and how long it would take to get the 215 back? 3. What is the best way to build up the muscles in my right hand to start lifting again?

I shattered my fibula, broke a chunk out of the tiba AND a hairline fracture, spread the mortis(?) joint and damaged the ligaments, nerves, etc. I fought with my insurance for 2 weeks to get to see a doctor (seriously!) and after surgery requiring screws (3) and plates (3) 7 months later I still can't walk a lot, have severe swelling, pain and a very bad limp. I have to use a cane to walk too. I had LIMITED physical therapy thanks to same insurance. I'm nearly 50 but the doctor was impressed at how fast the shattered fibula is fusing back together. The fractures were in three places there, vertial and multiple fragments. How long before I can walk normal again? I have a 'friend' that is ashamed of me and tells me I slow him down, I'm not healing fast enough and says I'm a big baby. I dragged myself up a flight of stairs, into my house and called EMS after hopping to the phone. I haven't cried about this once. I took care of myself 2 weeks after surgery and continue to. So how long?

yea this was a long time ago..back in freshman year of highschool i was walking off the football field from practice when a scrimmage next to me go out of control and two ppl ran off the feild. they were both HUGE. one hit me head on and the other hit me from behind. i did something to my knee but it was the worst pain in my life. all the trainer said was put ice on it and i never went to the doctor. few days it hurt than went away. but every winter it had gotten sore and stiff. and i started weightlifting on my lower body and now my knee is killing me. its 6 years later. did i stretch a muscle or what? thanks! ya..i know its late to be asking this haha.

I am swimming at a pool without warming up before swimming. Coz I'm a beginner swimmer, i am excited. I challenges my friends to compete swimming back and forth many times. Suddenly, i scream as my right calf muscle stiffen and very painful. The pool guard lifts her immediately from the pool then stretches my right cramped calf muscle...

Tell me, what is this disease?

the longer, the better.

thnx

Have a bout with runner's knee, I think. That or tendinitis. Either way, I want to keep up with my aerobic activities and continue cycling. Will cycling aggravate the injury? I ask this because the slight rubbing sound when I bend the knee sounds like something is grinding. I don't want to ground down what is in there by repetative motion.

I don't have health insurance and I have a damaged siatic nerve (nerve that is in the lower back and extends down the legs) that causes me severe pain to walk. I was wondering around how much would a visit/treatment cost?

Any information you can give go for it.

Ok so this girl that I work with is going into surgery after work today. She stated “that they are running a lot of test…. And I may need my kidney out. But I will be back to work on Monday no matter what.” First of all having your kidney out is something kind of major is it not?? So it is possible to get a kidney taken out on Friday and be well enough to be back to work on Monday??? I know this is a really stupid question but someone had the nerve to tell me at work… Now I want to know the truth!!

I have an abusive bf ( I am seeing a dv advocate)and he got mad at me at like three in the morning a few days ago. He turned off the light so it was dark and bum rushed me to the ground and choked me. I couldn't breath and i blanked out for a sec. He then let go and for a couple hours he slapped me around and pulled my hair.
My problem is that my neck hurts really really bad and I have a sore throat. And when I eat or open my mouth my jaw line hurts and my ear hurts horribly. I do not see any brusies. Do you think he did any major damage to me? He has hit and choked me before but I usually recover after a day without any pain. I'ma little worried.
