I have a dead toenail, under it a new toenail is growing.
the dead one is mostly off, but the part that isn't off will hurt to take it off. is there any way i can take it off that won't hurt? or won't hurt as much?

Let nature take care of it. Put a bandage to over that toenail and let it grow out on its own.

It's gonna hurt a little no matter what. After having my toenails pulled off at the doctor's office for ingrown toenails, I would recommend trimming it back as far as you can, then keeping a bandaid over it until it comes off by itself. It shouldn't be too much longer.

well, i have to be honest you have to take it off and yes it will hurt, but not as much as if you do not take it offf and the new toenail grows what i would do is drink one or two shots of tequila and then have someone remove the dead toenail, if not it could be worse

Just bandage it up and leave it alone. I've had a similar experience with a injured fingernail. I know it's ugly to look at but the body knows what it's doing. It will go right back to normal.

put a simple plaster over it to stop it from catching on your socks or anything else . replace the plaster regularly to keep it clean.
the damaged nail will simply drop off without any pain at all and the new nail underneath will look strange at first but will eventually grow straight

Just yank. You can soak in salt water to loosen it up first. If it hurts, it hurts, but you really should only have one toenail growing at a time. Make sure you keep it clean.

the best thing to do is probably wait for the new one to grow so the old one will fall off .... eventually
or you could sit on your foot and play nintendo all day til it is really numb and just pull it off ..... but i would have someone pull it off for you while you're not looking or else it will never get done
