if u have had it for sometime now (week or two) then i would go a maybe get it checked on just incase it turns out to be something bad so u can sort it out early. but if it only been a couple of days give it chance to heal and dont keep touching it other wise u could aggitate it. oh and dont cover it in any dressing as it needs the oxygen to heal.

Looks like simply a nasty bruise. I tend to bruise like that. A bruise is actually bleeding under the skin (not internal bleeding mind!). A homeopathic practitioner I know very well recommends Arnica for bruising, it helps draw it out and speeds up the healing process.

It's a pretty normal-looking bruise. You should see it start to subside in a few days; it will probably turn greenish as the blood under the skin starts to break down. If you see renewed bleeding of any great amount/extent, then it would be good to have it looked at, but for now, I think you're fine.

Bleeding under the skin is what a bruise is. It draws blood into the region of the damaged cells, to bring oxygen to the area. The oxygen then encourages the development of new cells to replace the damaged ones. Hey presto, the healing process. Very normal.

A bruise is caused by bleeding under the skin. If it continues you should get it checked out but it will probably stop of its own accord.

Bruising is a common thing to happen after an injury, dependant on it's size if it is small don't worry but if it is extensive then get it checked A.SA.P.

Some medications may cause or make bruising worse such as Aspirin or warfarin (known as anticoagulants) often prescribed for people with heart problems or those who have had a deep vein thrombosis (D.V.T).

If you are concerned or worried by it seek medical advice

Yes, it is blood under the skin. I was in a car wreck and had bruises like that on over 50% of my body.(Someone ran a stop sign and hit me in the side, and I wasn't wearing a seat belt) Anyway, it took my bruises over a month to start clearing up. They turn nasty colors of purple and yellow first. Be care not to bump your bruise.

A bruise IS bleeding under the skin. Not to be confused with "internal bleeding", which infers that you have damaged internal organs, but hey.

If it doesn't clear up soon, see a doctor, but I don't think there's much to worry about...

Ditto to most comments. Interesting shaped bruise though. It looks like you banged yourself on the corner of something. Can you remember banging yourself. Most, if not all bruises will disperse on their own of course but if it was something more sinister it might grow in size and be an indication of something that needed further attention. HOWEVER!!! looking at at I don't think it is, it looks like one that will gradually disappear like the early morning mist when the sun comes up :-)
