This weekend i was exposed to many cold hours in front of a scout bonfire with lots of smoke inhalation.

Now i just choked on water as i occassionally do and coughed up blood. I doubt it will happen again so i am wondering if i should wait it out since it might only be surface damage from second-hand bonfire smoke or should i call a doc?

PS. the last 3 times i went to the doc were for common ailments that just needed time to heal so i am reluctant to drop everything right now and go.

PSS. If you have no idea - don't bother answering. (If you just need the points - your priorities are whacked - but put a dumb answer in - just don't try too hard.)

It was a very small amount of blood - i thought it was from my teeth as i was brushing them at the moment - but a little experiment proved my suspisions true.

Yes, the dry heat did dry out your lungs. If you have a vaporizer, use it while you sleep for the next few nights.

Anytime we see blood - whether it be from coughing, vomiting, whatever...it is not normal. Chances are, it is probably from you straining when you coughed. Look for doing it again and also the amount you are coughing up. Is it bright red? If you do this again, even though it's only a small amount I would simply call the physician's office and just tell them what happened. Now, if you do this again and a medium - large amount comes out, go directly to your emergency room. Never be ashamed of going to the doctor. That's what they get paid for and we only have one life. That's what us medical personnel are here for! Good luck to you!

Do you know what you were burning? There are some things that might cause a bit of bleeding if you inhale them too long. And then, that hot air might even have dried out your mucus membranes so they cracked and bled.
