take it easy and keep the pressure off of it. try ice and heat packs and keep it wrapped; also keep it elevated while you sleep if you can. If the pain is unbearable take some tylenol or some aleves and try and rest. I hope this helps you. It is ok to get tipsy, but try to do it at home next time without trying to handle your dog b/c you have no kind of balance whatsoever when trying to handle pets esp. a dog. Next time have fun and leave your dog at home to rest while you have a great time!

Don't have it wrapped to tight or you will have more troubles to deal with. Put ice on it 20 minutes at a time, keep it elevated, do not walk on it, use crutches if you have any. A sprain is worse than a break, and there really isn't any more that you can do for it. Stay off the beer, and take some aspirin.

I recognise you do not wish to listen to this...however my buddy is the sort of sporting events addict as of approximately two years in the past, and for the reason that she simply randomly began go nation jogging and cycling within the wooded area close her condo, using three days per week (horses) monitor practices three days per week, (sundays she is going for further runs and motorbike rides) with out a prior coaching earlier than that besides for infrequent runs external her as soon as per week using classes and college monitor practices (she is the sort of enthusiast...I do not see how she does it however...) she sprains her ankle(s) once or more a month. SPRAINS NEVER HEAL COMPLETELY. her mother is a nurse and continually reminds her of that, she wears a tensor/ace bandage, and an ankle brace, on each and every ankle whether or not its sprained or no longer (heavier ones for whilst theyre honestly sprained) considering she used to be so reckless (and she or he's correct right here as I form this lol, however she's busy ranting approximately how her horseshow used to be cancelled considering of rain lol) she ended up strain fracturing an already sprained ankle gambling volleyball, (and she or he sprained it in the course of baseball). the one factor she will be able to do now's trip. No distance jogging or sprinting, no cycling, simply using, considering it is the most effective factor that does not harm it. She is probably not absolutely healed till the top of September, and has to spend her cash that typically is going to horse stuff, on physio. This is protecting her again from the 800 m provincials. the outcome sucks...it is going to heal so much much less should you play...and even though she nonetheless excercised, nonetheless rode, nonetheless went to monitor meets and horseshows, she regrets it, considering the everlasting soreness and affliction from braces and tensors holds her again. (she additionally has Osgood-Shlatters Disease and has to put on two kneee braces on each and every knee even as jogging and cycling) move forward and play, simply be relatively cautious approximately whether or not or no longer you've beforehand sprained it. be aware from buddy: "I could like to mention that Jamie's being dramatic...which perhaps the wording makes it look like that, however sure I am very damage inclined... however no soreness so long as I'm dressed in the braces...however she's correct, sprains not ever heal. I roll over on my ankle, it hurts for hours or days, if I go back and forth, equal factor. BE CAREFUL..."

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
(RICE)
Rest your leg. You may find it necessary to use crutches instead of walking on it.
Ice it with an ice pack or some frozen peas or something.
Compress your ankle with a bandage or other compressive device (velcro ankle straps can be bought from your local pharmacy.
Elevate your ankle by placing it up on a chair or cushions when you sit. When you go to sleep, place a pillow or two under your leg to raise the ankle - preferably as high as your heart or higher.
Simple pain relief - paracetamol (or acetaminophen) if you are able to take this - is usually helpful too. NSAIDs can be useful if you are able to take them: e.g. ibuprofen
