Injuries - November 2007

Basically I have a very large syrinx as a result of injury. I know that at worst I can end up a quadrapligic (Paralysis basically from the neck down). Am I also in danger of cognitive affects?

the doctors broke my left arm when my mom was giving birth to me.But if they didn't i wouldn't be alive.And i couldn't move my arm much since then.But after i had a surgery when i was 6 it got better but i still can't lift it up more than60degrees.Maybe i could've been ok if i moved it more after the surgery but i guess i was used to not moving it.Now i'm 19 and my left arm is 5mm shorter than the right one and thinner.The most important thing is i can't feel anything in some muscle parts of my left arm including right below the back of my neck on the left side. but the fingers are working better than the right one.Do u think i might completely lose my left arm in time?Does anyone know?Because alot of doctors didn't give me any good info or advice.i feel like i'm losing it more and more

I doubt this is real, but is it true that if you pop a blister, a bacteria can enter that will affect your spine? I don't the whole bacteria thing can happen, but I never though it could infect your spine. Is this true? In my case, it's an extremely minute blister causes from a burn on my finger.

two weeks ago i noticed a bruise on my toe nail, it did not hurt then and it does not hurt now, but it still has not gone away. i don't even know how i got the bruise. has anyone else had a bruised toenail? do i need to see DR? if not how long does it take to go away

okay, so its thanks giving and we are cooking, obviously.. and my mom was picking up a cover to a pot and she burned three of her fingers. its not serious, but are there any tricks to making them feel better???

My sister was placing the pan with hot oil,in the sink and I guess the pipe was dripping and some of the water fell in the pan and cause it to pitch up on her...she ran cold water on it, but now its forming small blisters..what should she do??

Well two years ago I got mad at someone and kicked this metal and plastic chair and my leg connected with the side of the hard plasic seat and crushed the bone in.And it has yet to fully eal,its still dented,will it smoth over eventually?Anything I can do to make it build the bone back up?

Also What are some way to stregthen my knee?I tore something in it awhile ago and it can't support as much weight as my other one.

made it to hospital doctor got it out with his thing and said i have a scratched cornea and got me anitibiotic ointment to put in. Said 4 times a day. But ive only did it 3 times yesterday.Should i put it in more then 4 times a day then or more?I rubbed it once yesterday on accident hurt alot! should i wear a eye patch tho he said i dont have to?i get paranoid bad about somethings so when it says keep eye shut as much as possible how long should i? and i play games and watch tv alot ! should i keep it shut during those times?also says wear shades but i dont have any! been 1 day so u know i got paranoia.The pain is on and off is this normal?What exactly should i do to keep it out of bright light?been 48 hrs since i got the thing out and its been scratched.How much longer?

about three weeks ago I noticed a small hard bump on my forehead. I never hurt or hit my head so it's strange at why it's there and it doesn't hurt at all. What can it be??? Is it serious???

My husband broke the 4th metacarpal in BOTH hands, he is in a cast for 1 week, it is not a clean break... if it isnt fusing together then the doc wants to put pins in for another 4 weeks, does anyone know about this surgery? or how long this will take to heal? or how much the surgery costs without insurance?

so yesterday i was at cheer and when i got home, i felt like something was pulling or strectching on my left hip. my parents said i probably pulled something. when i walk, something pops out more then on my right side..

The muscle in my ring finger and my pinky feel like they have lost strength and also i can't spread my fingers that much.
my right hand feels normal. But what's wrong with my left hand? I'm worried!

I've been diagnosed with Frozen Shoulder. I never heard of this before i got it. I'm doing physical therapy exercises 3 times a day, and i'm in pain all the time. It's been like this for 4 months now, and i feel like i'm never going to get better. The exercises are helping a little, but i can see this is going to take forever to heal. Anybody got any other things that work for this??? Thanks :-)

Just curious about x-rays. Would a doctor be able to see on an x-ray the difference between someone who like, fell on their arm and it snapped instantly, and someone who was like on their arm and pressure gradually grew and it ended up breaking after a period time. So like.. split second break and gradual fracture?

Is it normal to dream after you've lost consciousness or been knocked out?

I was talking to someone today about something that happened a few years ago (has actually happened twice), and I guess I didn't realize it was unusual. To this day, I don't know if I passed out or knocked myself out (long story...I hit my head both times, but don't know if I was already unconscious when I actually hit my head)...but I *distinctly* remember dreaming between the time I blacked out and the time I woke up on the floor.

Is this unusual?

Since I was younger I've had a long scar running down the side of my face from an accident. Also I have scars from my more dangerous (let alone unexperienced) skateboarding days.

I'm afraid to show my scars in public, but lately somebody asked me where I got my scar. When I answered they said it looked cool.

This may be a dumb question but what should I do?

My Daughter & Son-in-law were involved in a car accident on Sunday. A car went into the back of them. Both their children and my son-in-law are ok but my daughter suffered whiplash. Can she claim against the other driver and if so what is involved? She didn't go to hospital but went to the dr's on Monday morning after her neck became very painful.

I've been giving my mom injections lately and its been going great. But yesterday i gave her an injection and theres this HUGE bump there and its not going away. And its usually not there when i give it to her. But what do i do? I dont want her to get hurt or anything. And she says that it itches and hurts when you touch it. HELPPP!
