Ice it down for 20 minutes at a time , then after a 20 minute break ice it again. Use the gel cold packs or wrap ice in a towel and put on the arm.

Take IBUPROFEN for the swelling and inflammation. These two things should help a lot.

I wonder why they did not do the surgery immediately? I went through this with a broken leg a few years ago, but they operated to put the leg back together immediately.

Keep the arm elevated above the level of the heart as much as possible. You can also apply ice.
