I do remember dropping my books from school on it, so that could be it. it hurt for a few days, but the pain went away. it no longer hurts.

It's the skin underneath the nail that has gottne a bruise, not the toenail itself. Perhaps someone stepped on your toe, or you stubbed it, but can't remember. It's not serious. The worst that could happen is your toenail falls off, but most likely it will just grow out. No need for a doctor unless it becomes painful and/or swollen.

Unless there is a knot, or it is getting bigger then you do not need to go to a doc. However, if the site of it bothers you then what the doc would do is bore a hole in the toenail to release the blood. Just keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger or if it has a knot see a doc.

It will either go away slowly or else the nail will fall off and a new one grow back.
Just keep an eye on it. If you continue bruising yes, get checked. If it's just that, well, probably no big deal.

That happened to my mother. Call an orthopedic or any doctor. Its not serous so dont worry. They'll just give you treatments for it. I think she soaked her foot in warm water and the medication her doctor gave her. Her toenail fell off and a new one grew back. I suggestg that tilly ou see the doctor soak it in warm water.

If you drop your books on it, that could be it. Or, if you weared shoes that were a bit too small, that can cause it.
