I had my doctor send in a letter of predetermination to my Insurance Co stating that i have 2 inch gap in my upper abdominal rectus and a 4 inch gap below the navel & my decending aorta is exposed which can be felt easily, which could potantially kill me if i acidentally get kicked or rammed in he tummy the wrong way by playing children or a car seatbelt. The only kinda docs that will perfom this kinda surgery is a plastic surgeon. But HE said its not considered plastic surgery because is rather reconstructive due 3 pregnancys close together over stretched my abdominal wall causing it to separate. I do not want a tumy tuck..but the insurance company insists that its cosmetic and said they'd only repair my herniated belly button. I have two docs saying the same thing and i need to get the ab wall closed asap because they can easily feel my decending aorta. The insurance co still denys payment for this. should i appeal it or am I a o l? any suggestions r helpful.

About a month ago I lifted my backpack full of all my textbooks to go sell back to the bookstore at my college. I lifted it with my left arm and instantly hurt the muscle behind/under my shoulder. It has been 6 weeks since that happened. And now I am back to weight lifting and I used to do 120lbs on a should machine but it hurts my left shoulder muscle so much that I can only do about 30lbs with out pain. Any ideas how to heal whatever is hurt? And by the way if i matters I am a male, 6 foot 3 inches, 164lbs, and healthy.

I twisted my ankle carrying my sleeping son down stairs. On the last step we both landed on the floor. There was intense pain for 2 to 3 minutes and then a dull ache. There was no swelling or bruising. It has been a month and I still have some dull ache on the inside of my ankle especially in the morning when I stretch my foot out and only sometimes when walking. The pain is not so bad that I need to take anything for it. Just wondering what it is taking so long to heal on such a mild injury. Could be a fracture? I would think there would be swelling if I broke something. Any advice?

Thanks

Today I was out with friends and I got my arcylic nail ripped back. I thought the acrylic nail would have popped off but It didn't. When I looked down at my nail there was blood under the nail, and my nail felt as though I had, had it spashed with a hammer. I have put peroxide on the nail and then but a band-aid on it so that I did not accidently rip the nail more...does anyone know what I really should be doing...should I attempt to take the acrylic nail off...I really dont want to have too, it hurts so bad!!!

I broke my nose when I was 10...and right after I broke it it became crooked...to this day I still don't know why the doctor didn't just pop the bones back together right after the injury...so now I'm 16.. and for the past years I have been suffering from sinus infections and related breathing problems. I really want to get surgery on my nose to correct my difficulty breathing threw my left nostril and to make my nose straight again...should I just make an appointment with a ent doctor and tell him up front that I want him to straighten my nasal bone?? because I had septoplasty a few months ago but the doctor didn't even bother fixing the bone

I dislocated my knee 8 days ago and the swelling is just as bad as the day after it happened. i went to the doctor on thursday and he didnt seem overly concerned about it.

To me it just seems that the swelling should have gone down some..

What do you think?

I received 3 hard punches on my backbone a couple days ago. One hit was in the upper backbone and hurt until the 4th day and then the pain dissipated and the other two hits were hit in the lower backbone but not the very bottom. The two hits did not result as a 4 day pain like the hit in the upper backbone but when the guy punched hit me I felt a short paralysis after the hit (less than 1 second). Did they damage my backbone? Did they damage my nerve or my vertebrate? Did they stunt my growth? Will I grow normally? Help!!!

I don't feel any paralysis and all of my muscles function perfectly , no craps and I can freely move any part of my body.

GROSS FOLLOWS:

It's been a while since I've been around dogs, but I've never had one so viciously bite me. The owner (my new neighbor) seemed EXTREMELY remorsful and apologetic; I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt.

At any rate, I have what seems like a puncture wound on my lower arm (near the wrist) from one of the dog's canine teeth. I'm going to my doctor on Monday for a checkup and tetnus shot, and in the meantime I've washed and bandaged the wound. It is a bit sore, and bruised around the opening. The odd thing is that there is some kind of oozing from the bite. It looks like a mushroom, and I can't tell if it's fat squishing out or white blood cells trying to prevent infection. I pushed on it a bit with a clean q-tip, and it felt numb, so I think it's "attached," so to speak.

Has anyone else experienced this from a puncture wound, and do I need to see a doctor right away, or may I use the "wait and see" approach until Monday when I see my usual physician?

But, I feel that there is some small part of it in my finger and I have some pain when I touch my finger . Please let me know how to find that I still have some part of that nail in my finger and how to remove that small part.

thankyou

I got a 'slightly' bulged disc in my lower back several yrs ago that pretty much ended my soccer dreams in college due to timing.
I tried to train on it too early and never really fully recovered.
After about 3yrs I missed battle ( I wrestled for 13yrs), so I started muay thai kickboxing and brazilian ju jitsu. I've found my legs to get extremely heavy, my gate movement is shaky, and occassionally I tweak my back doing a back bridge trying to bump someone off me. Then of course, the pains that go into my hips return and the pain in between my vertebrae as well.
I train when I'm not in ridiculous pain but before I set my heart on competing i want to know I'm 110% and I fear seeing a doc who will tell me I need surgery.
Should I see a chiropractor or acupunturist instead?

I tripped 9 months ago and broke the fall with my hands. They were sore but the paramedic said no bones were broken. The soreness took a few months to go away.

A couple months ago 2 lumps developed next to each other on one hand. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the fall or it's something else. The lumps aren't painful but are annoying.

Hi. In the summer (that’s like over 6 months ago) I use to do a lot of training cause I use to play sports, so my training involved workouts like Abs etc and then one night I just had this stomach pain. I went to the doctors for check out but they couldn’t see anything wrong, so they told me that I most probably pulled/strained my muscles. The doctor’s advice was to keep away from exercise and to take some painkillers to ease the pain. After 3 months that healed but the thing is I started to get these like choking/ swallowing problems its not bad or nothing, it would happen once in a while if I had some solid food I might have a little trouble swallowing. I told my parents about it and they said just to take my time when eating but what I want to know is, could this be like a little side affect from my recently stomach injuries? And what should I do?

I've been experiencing this problem for about a year now. My chest (heart side) feels uncomfortable under the collar bone about 2-3 inches on the hearts right side near the sternum. I alleviate this by arching my chest forward and raising my head this in turn causes my chest to pop numerous times and causes me sometimes to become light headed ( this fixes the problem temporarily, I pop in numerous times throughout the day). This popping is analogous to when you crack your knuckles. Now my doctor basically told me not to lift heavy objects because at that time I was working in a warehouse and go to the gym a lot (cant do dips anymore), but I haven’t gone to the gym since December and I don’t work in a warehouse anymore so what is causing this sensation I’m feeling in my chest.. I had numerous cardiograms done and it showed nothing, I even did the stress test on the treadmill in my doctor’s office and I passed that as well. The doctor gave me naproxen (basically a really strong Aleve) and that’s all he did for me and I only take it when the pain is unbearable. I suffer from GERD by I have a lot of control over take using nothing more than Rolaids now a day. I take one a day multivitamins. Don’t drink, rarely smoke. Sleep on my left side. What other information should I provide even if it seems minuscule? Some days im ok and I don’t pop it some days are bad. There was one time where the pain was so incredible that I couldn’t lay down or move and my body was crooked. But I want to know so I continue to crack it, should I work this muscle out cause I’m about to start going back to the gym, any information would be appreciated.
