Injuries - January 2007

my son cut his finger a week ago. i took him to the ER where they glued his wound shut. they gave him a splint and said to keep it on for 7 days. my question is this: how does the glue come off? does it wear off? do we have to go back to the Dr for them to do somethnig else? it's been one week, the splint came off and the wound looks like it's healing ok. he's had no complications or fever or anything.

Hi all,
I am getting a first aid training done and i have an assessment tommorow. I am having great deal of difficulty understanding the various bandages like the palm bandage, thumb bandage etc as its completely new to me, is there any online interactive lessons on bandaging as its too difficult to learn from the book.
Would appreciate anyones help in this :)

I've had problems with both of my ankles pretty much my whole life. When I was younger I participated a lot in sports, and in my teens injured them several time. The last couple of years the right ankle has been getting progressivly worse.
I went to the doctor yesterday because it had been hurting since Tues when I think it turned under (but it may have been the left)
Beginning to think it's never going to completely heal because despite everything I've done in the last 5-6 year it seems to just keep getting worse and the doctors just keep doing the same things over and over. Starting to feel a little hopeless and wondering if anyone has any ideas as far as at least managing the pain and making the joint more stable.

I got my cast off yesterday(had it from 11/28-1/4) that was on my foot up to my knee. I broke the left side of my left foot by my pinky toe, and when I was walking out of the office, my heel started to hurt and still does. Why does my heel hurt and how long will it hurt? Also, how can I get rid of it?

I was in a car accident 3 days ago, and was hit on the front passengers side

Immediatly following, my chest hurt. i have a bruise and it hurts above my ribs. (yes, i had on my seat belt)
i went to the er and had lots of x rays done and the er doc said every thing looked fine

however, when ever i put weight on my arms, my chest hurts and i hurt when i cough' is this due to just being bruised?

I fell hard on my bum on a hard floor on 23/12/06, since then have felt quite a bit of discomfort whilst sitting, sitting down, standing up, or having to bend down in anyway. The extremity of the pain has eased over the two weeks slightly and now I am able to move around better. I visited my GP who advised me I had a bruised tailbone.

Since then I have been feeling a consistent and rather deep aching in my right bum (the left side does feel uncomfortable, but the discomfort in the right side is very pronounced). I have been taking Ibuprofen, but still feel the uncomfortable aching in the right side of the bum. It almost feels like my bum is 'too boney' to sit on...strange but I can't think of anyway to explain it

I am unsure whether this is common in this type of situation? My doctor gave me little more information on what I should expect from bruising my tailbone, so I was a little concerned. Is this normal? Thanks

i have compounded my bones together and have to go to hospital to fix the crumbled bone. anyone else experienced this? whats it like and wil it hurt? anasthetic used?

i woke up one morning and i felt if just my right side of my ribs hurt. i dont know what it is. its like if i woke up wrong and my neck hurts... but instead of my neck hurting its like my ribs... it hurts when i bend down... it hurts when i cough or sneeze or hiccup. i dont know if my lungs have anything to do with it.. but i've never smoked or have done any drugs.. anybody know whats wrong with me?

I have been experiencing lack of circulation in my right thumb and index finger this morning. It happened first when I was in bed and I thought it was due to my hands being place above my head. It happened once again while I was typing on the computer. When it regained it's usual, it just happend all at once.
I have been doing a lot of yard work and my hands are much stronger than they have been from the work. Tendons appear thicker and stronger.

I've had this cold with a really bad cough for a week now. I was coughing so much my abs became sore, which I've had happen before. But now it actually feels like I pulled something. It's very painful when I cough now. It's the area right below where my sternum ends.

if i can skip seeing doctor... itsp swollen quite a bit, and none of my sneaks will fit it....do i ice it for like 10 minutes and then leave it for 2o and repeat? i have it wrapped already.,.i think its just sprained...ive broken same foot befoe... also have no insurance...thanks for reading

I have a broken foot, with no insurance. The Dr. did not put me in a cast, he put me in a little aircast thing and told me it was mostly a bad sprain. And he did not even show me my x-rays???

Earlier this morning, I accidentally tore a big gash, about 3 inches long, very close to my spine. Now, I'm getting shivering sensations and my left side feels crampy and my fingers and toes are twitching slightly. Is this an early sign of paralysis, or am I just being a hypochondriac?

i sleep from 8 to 10 hours a day, i watch tv for 3 hours a day, i use the computer for 1 or 2 hours a day, i don't wear glasses and i didn't, i see very very good, but, the small area under my eyes is darkblue, since i was 14years old ( now i have 20years old) i don't know why???????????? i tried cures but it didn't work, even 1%, i don't know what to do, can you help me please?

ok today at skool i was walking in the hallway and me and my friend starting punching each other, ya i kno dumb idea. well after we stopped punching each other i punched the lockers that were rite nxt to us. that was like 8 hrs ago and my hand still really hurts. its on the top of my hand and like when i try to write wit a pencil or squezze something my plam starts hurting. if i barley touch it, it hurts really bad. its hard to pick heavy things up. wat did i do to my hand? cause it is in alot of pain rite now.

i think they are twitches.. it is very embarassing.. once in a while ill have muscle spasms like on the back of my arm my legs, my stomach and back.. is this a serious problem? what is this caused by..?
