I got my cast off yesterday(had it from 11/28-1/4) that was on my foot up to my knee. I broke the left side of my left foot by my pinky toe, and when I was walking out of the office, my heel started to hurt and still does. Why does my heel hurt and how long will it hurt? Also, how can I get rid of it?

You've had a cast on for about 6 weeks, and during that time, your musclesi n that leg have atrophied somewhat. Using them again is what is causing this pain. This happens to anyone who has had a limb immobilized for any length of time. AKA, it's pretty normal. Talk with your doctor about.

Really, though, the only way to get rid of this pain is to rebuild your muscle strength. You may need some physiotherapy to help with that, adn that means a referral from your doctor.

Gee I guess you are glad to have your cast off, the pits over Christmas yet. At any rate, your heel is tender because it hasn't been carrying your weight while in the cast. It will take a few days to return to normal. If, in the meantime, you can't take the pain, take an aspirin and rest your heel.

Take care.

Pain is nature's alarm system - tells you something is broken or injured > best way to get rid of it is to identify the issue and use caution until it is healed.
Painkillers that let you ignore the issue also let you aggravate the injury more ( that is a BAD thing).
Maybe use some special soft soled shoes until you mend totally.
