OK, I think something's stuck in my nose and I have no idea how it got in there. But last week, I had some nasal discharge from one of my nostrils that is clogged up and when I did nasal irrigation, I flushed out something that looks like a ball of black thread. Yesterday, I had the same sensation in my nose and I nasal irrigated but it won't come out, I think it went further down into the back of my throat. What should I do? If I go see a doctor, what would he do? Would the procedure be complicated and expensive? I'm short of cash right now.

One of my vertabrae on my upper back, very close to my neck, is very sore. It hurts constantly, and the slightest movement can make the pain worse. It hurts on both sides on my back/shoulders, and gets worse when i move my arms a certain way (above my head, put my elbows back, etc.) What could this be? What can be done to fix it?

I know this will sound gay but the worst injury I received was a gymnastic one. I was leaping over the 'horse' during gym class and the guy at the other end wasn't paying attention. I caught my **** on the 'horse' and landed on my right knee and could barely move for 6 months. 20 years later the injury still gives me problems. (Sometimes I can barely get off my settee to reach for my next drink. It's a terrible affliction!)

What's your worst injury?

I smashed my pinky finger about 2 months ago pretty good. It turned black (dark red from blood) but stayed attached for 2 months. There was a healthy portion going long ways on it, so it didn't fall off at first. But there was a big lump in 1 part, so i trimmed it down. After I trimmed it down, i realized it was basically hollow where the dried blood had been. I tried to leave it alone but seeing that I could pick the blood out made me anxious to do so. i ended up cutting the 'dead' part of my nail off totally and getting out the dried blood. But now 80% of my fingernail is gone and there is only a slightly tougher layer of skin where it used to be. I have a small bit of new nail that had grown in for the first 2 months, but what should i do with the rest of my nail? What can I do to make it grow faster/stronger? Is there any chance of infection even though there is absolutely no area that is broken open any more? Should I trim off the healthy part so it doesn't get snagged?

(from a Health & Safety angle - avoiding an accident that would immediately prevent one being able to work, even if only for a short time. Ideally a job where there is almost no chance at all of having an accident).

Two days ago I ran into a metal pole and injured my head. I didn't pass out but I have had a headache ever since. As I live in Japan at the moment the hospital costs are expensive so I don't want to get it checked out unless I have too. Does it matter and will my headaches go away as they are rather annoying.

Yesterday some black guy in class was messing with me (football thing) he was just playing but hes pretty damn strong and like 6'6" well anyways. I was sitting in my desk and he comes behind me and grabs the back of my head and tries to slam it into the desk, not like real but still it was pretty hard. And I tried to resist and felt like my spinal cord kinda "pull" and I'm still fine I just kinda got some pain in my neck. Just like its sprained or something, did he damage my spinal cord?

A was rob and got shot at home during july 2006. It's a one shot that when thru first to my left wrist, then to my left side of my hip, thru the left femoral artery, then thru my left upper inner thigh. I was rushed to the ER. The thing that the doctors did during the surgery was to take a piece of my vein from my right thigh and replace it with my damaged femoral artery in my left thigh. I lost > 30 pounds while staying > a week in the hospital. I managed to recover the function of my left thigh. I can walk and stand; I could run, but it looks more like a brisk/power walk.
Does anyone experience this kind of thing?
I'm still worried that this replacement vein might come off.
I will be glad if there are any medical professionals or other people equivalent professions share their views, knowledge, or experience.
