if your picture is accurate, you may have a seperated shoulder. The name sounds worse that what it actually is. It's clinical name is an acromial claviular sprain. Did you hit something with the top of your shoulder? That is the general mechanism of injury. Depending on the severity, this injury will heal on it's own. When pain allows, make sure you move your shoulder through it's full range of motion and avoid contact that would depress your shoulder (football, rugby, etc). If there is a sharp contrast when compared to the opposite side, being the youngster that you are, a trip to the Dr. should not be ruled out. Good luck.

Oh my goodness, child, I should hope that you do have shoulder ligaments, you're meant to have ligaments in your shoulders if you expect them to work! Did you mean that you think you've strained your ligaments? The only way to know for sure what's wrong is to see a doctor. Why not pop in to see the school nurse first and see if you need a referral to a doctor? You should not let things get worse by just sitting there in pains for an entire month. It might be that all you need is a bit of physiotherapy and some proper painkillers. Don't get all paranoid and start thinking that your shoulders are uneven, they probably aren't but the tenderness you feel is making you think that they're lopsided or something. (I'm afraid I'm sitting here with a bit of a grin on my face not because I don't sympathize but because I remember having a similar experience at your age and it turned out to be nothing but growing pains. My shoulders aren't lopsided in the slightest and I'm sure that yours aren't either!).See the doctor right away just to prove yourself wrong if nothing else. I'm sure you'll not be needing any operations.

Take care! :-)

I'm going by your picture: It looks like a classic subluxation. The shoulder has slipped out of place....You will need to go to the doctor or the ER to get it fixed....No surgery required...It will hurt like hell when they do it, but after wards it will only be sore for a couple of days...You will probably need to wear a shoulder splint of some kind for a week or two to allow the shoulder to stay in place and heal....It is caused by either a serious jerking movement or weak tendons and ligaments. You will need to strengthen your shoulder muscles to prevent it from happening again...Seek professional advice on the shoulder exercises because you could do more harm if you do the wrong things or do too much too soon...A physical therapist would be best....Hope this helps you and hope you feel better soon.....

Your drawing indicates acromioclavicular separation. To have peace of mind, ask your folks to take you to an orthopedist. No use being scared over things which can be addressed by the right people.

Do you mean a torn ligament? If pain continues, see a doctor.
