And I know to put the fingers- two finger widths apart- up from the wrist. But what else? What pressure? Do we push in with our finger tips?

How do we take our own pulse for more than 15 secs or so?

my doctor told me, since i'm near sighted, that when i wear my glasses my eyes get worse. he said it was okay, because i could just come back the next year and get stronger lenses. he said if i dont wear them anymore they wont get any worse. my friend says thats not true. she said they dont get worse when you wear your glasses and that they just get worse over time anyway. any opinions?

I wear out my shoes on the outside corner of my heels. I used run in Asics 2110 GT's but after 3 months and 20-25 miles per week, i began experiencing pain in my right knee. I've been taking it easy on running and on the hunt for a new shoe. The sporting goods store I went to suggested a motion control shoe, I tried the Adidas Supernova Control but that seemed to cause ankle pain, doubled my knee pain and added lower back pain. How is the wear n tear on Asics? Is it normal to replace a shoe after 3 months? Any suggestions for a good cushioned running shoe? Help! I miss running!

my friend runs everyday for cross country and she also plays basketball on a team. lately she has been complaining about how her back hurts so much. Since she has still been running and playing basketball after she hurt it, the pain has gotten steadily worse. She can barely move at all without wincing, and it isnt only her back anymore. I have been trying to show her how to twist to crack her back but she can't and she tried a stretch whre you lay on your stomach and slowly work up until your arms are straight and your back is curved. It just made her back hurt worse and didnt accomplish anything. Does anybody know of anything that would help?

I've had this for 6 months now. I have had a lateral release, ice 3-4 times a day, antiinflams, phys ther. No improvement. It's so bad that I have not worked for the better part of six month and have been on crutches. Pain around my knee cap, pain in my joint and pain in the back of my thigh and calf along with swelling of course. The knee brace makes my leg hurt. I'm going crazy!

I'm in alot of pain and I can't sleep. I figure there's no use in taking one if it won't help me sleep. Will it?

I am constantly tired, and I never feel like I rest at night. I just feel like I sleep and that's it. I have basicly no energy. I'm sure that I'm overweight. I am 6ft3in tall and weight 320lbs. I have tried various herbs like melatonin, valerian root, and passion flower. They do help me to fall asleep easier, but don't help me to feel rested after sleeping. I have had my thyroid and blood count tested, and both are normal. I do not know what else to try, and I am extremely frustrated. Any good ideas???I don't think that hypnosis would work on me, unless I was partially drugged first. Thanks for any help.

Hey guys, for the past 2 days I have been feeling more tired than usual, and yesterday I started feeling slightly congested. Today I'm feeling a bit more congested and I know that a full blown cold is around the corner, what are some things I can do to fight it off?? I tend to get colds that stick around for a couple weeks, and I'm starting school on Tuesday and I can not be sick then!! Anyone have any suggestions for immune boosters or anything that can fight this off?? Thank you!

I usually get burning pain in my right shoulder that goes up that side of my neck which also causes mild headaches. It only happens when I do repetative movements....typing, writing, painting..etc. It especially burns when I lean my head forward.

Does anyone else have this or experienced this? What exactly causes this pain, nerves? muscle?

That area does feel very tense and massages help a little.

I fell on my elbow last week and it has been extremely painful, especially when it gets touched or hit. The bruising and swelling was immediate and is still pretty aparant. Now, after I bump it I can't bend my arm all the way for a little while and it throbs pretty bad. I never had it checked out, and I'm wondering if I need to start thinking abou that. Or, is this what happens when you really hit your elbow hard and am I just being a wimp?

My grandmother has broken her upper arm. The surgeon says because of the severe osteoporosis she will not heal. This is the second break in the same place and the last time it took 9 months and weird devices to heal the break. They can't do general anesthetics because of allergies and won't put pins or plates in because the doc says it will just break the bone more.

She is currently in your average arm sling and a special brace and has been instructed not to move the arm at all. She is not compliant at all and continues to use the arm whenever not directly supervised. She has mild to moderate dementia. I have bandaged her hand directly to her chest to prevent movement but she still manages to move it.

I need a way to prevent her from moving the limb when she is not supervised. Can the elbow and shoulder be completely immobilized in a special sling or brace? Should we just bandage the arm directly to her side? Help I am at a loss here.
