Hi tokes...see she is a baby so that is why i am scared it won't stay on...she was a preemie and ur friend was older right? i'm so scared...she is very active and she likes to play rough so this is why i am scared it may fall off...looking at her other pinky finger, it is very small and fragile looking so that is why I am so nervous and watching her every move.

If the finger is black today but wasn't black when they took the cast off call the doc ASAP and check with him. If the finger is the same color it was when the doc took the cast off then just follow his instructions. Do not beat yourself up over this as accidents happen and things could be much worse. She is alive and well and she will be fine even if she loses the finger. If the finger falls off it will heal over and be fine. There are many people who gladly give up one finger just to have the rest of their fingers back or their hand back. Give yourself credit for getting this taken care of and being a good concerned parent. You are doing an awesome job.

To Me It Looks Like You Have A Bad Doctor And The Wrong Hospital. Go To Another Hospital To Get Another Opinion.

Just for your own peace of mind, call the doctor and explain your fear to him/her. I'm sure that they will be able to reassure you that everything is okay. Almost all parents have an accident with a child. I had one fall out of the sink at 8 months old and crash onto a tile floor on her head (she was fine) and another of my kids fell down an escalator at the mall at the age of 4 years (she was okay too). Don't feel too bad. Just use the experience to remind you to WATCH that little bugger all the time.

I am sure that the finger has not changed since the doctor removed the cast and original bandaging. For the finger to have been completly severed, of COURSE, things are not going to look good until it's healed. If things don't appear right....CALL YOUR DOCTOR!

I am sorry to hear of your little girl's accident. The thing you must do now is wait and see whether the finger re-develops adequate circulation to stay alive. That is what the doctor is trying to find out here. Either way, she can live a very, very good life without one of her fingers, and she will not remember what heppened. Don't worry.

First, trust the doctors.
Second, quit worrying so much. Kids adjust and adapt so well. Even better than adults in most situations. She will never see this as a scar nearly as much as you do.
Pray for help in dealing with this and let God take care of the rest.

the mind boggles as to how the hell a small baby like that ,can have this kind of injury in the first place ,
all i can suggest is keep very close to medical help and do everything they advice you
small babies do not yet have a lot of strength to combat this kind of trauma
take very good care of her,and dont look for help here in answers ,keep close to the doctors who are handling the case

What advice did the doctor give? Do they just want to watch it a few more days? If he wasn't concerned, maybe it'll be fine. Don't freak out, accidents happen. Just notify them if something changes, like a fever, more redness, any suspiscious drainage. more pain... It's really amazing how well babies heal!

A week sounds like it is not long enough to remove the cast.
I would follow the doctors instructions but be extra careful of her.
If the black does not began to fasde soon take her back to the doctor.

First of all, she is young and won't remember the trama, second, if the doctor was fearful of the black color (due to poor circulation) he would have given you some special instruction on how to care for or
