My husband had colon surgery to remove a large polyp in his lower colon; difficult surgery. Then emergency surgury two weeks later as he wasn't healed and his bowels were leaking inside. Then he got his colostomy bag which was 6 months ago. He lost 32 pounds the first time being in the hospital three weeks. It was rough. I just don't want him to go through so much again yet he wants it off. His doctor said it will be easier but I worry..thanks.

He recently had an MRI. It was perfect. Now, he has to go to Children's Hospital for some other tests. Someone recently told me that he could be allergic to wheat. All three doctors that he has seen said it is not food allergies, as his symptoms would be different. Such as, he wakes up in the middle of the night with migrains. He gets them after eating, after playing too hard, while doing nothing at all. They have him on medicine (which is temporary, and I absolutley HATE to bandaid the problem, but the headaches have stopped), that is making him gain weight like crazy.

Has anyone else ever gone through this? What was the outcome. I have researched and researched this and nothing makes sense. None of the causes of migrains in kids fit his lifestyle. And everything I seem to think it could be, the doctors contradict me and steer me away from. I am desperate to figure out how to help him!!!

I was first diagnosed w/ scoliosis when I was 10. I had surgery when I was 13. Now I’m 17 and unhappy with my self-image. Despite the surgery, my backbone is still crooked. Every time I bend over, you can see the curves on my back. So, I rarely bend in public. I always wear hoodies and jackets so that nothing could expose the scar, or the fact that my back is curved. It’s been 4 years and the scar is still pink and visible. Because of this, I don’t swim as much as I used to. I’m so self-conscious that I’m stiff when I walk. I think I have to walk a certain way just to hide the curve. :( Sometimes I think my arms are long. I just hate it. I don’t know how to cope. Everybody I know doesn’t have it worse than I do and no one in my family understands my pain. I’m Asian, 5’0, and skinny. But I don’t feel pretty. :(

My 18 year old son, a high school senior, is hearing impaired. Zero hearing in right ear and about 1/2 in the left ear. His condition will not improve and he could, over time, develop even less hearing in the left ear. Would this be serious enough to get disability or supplemental income from social security?

He seems to have no way of showing emotion, only talks about one or two subjects and is totally obsessed with computers etc. He has always been like this, but Asperger's would not have been recognised when he was a child and for some reason it has only just occurred to me what it could be. I desperately need to talk to someone who knows about this as I am feeling very alone. Can anyone help please?

She lives in a place called Farmville(middle of nowhere) and it happened yesterday while she was sleeping. She woke up and her leg was hot so she took off the covers and found the back of her knee was swollen. She went to take a shower then walked around looking for something that could've bitten her and couldn't find anything so she did her homework(she is in college). Someone looked at it and said they saw fang marks in the bite on her knee.

She went to her college's health clinic and they just gave her pills that knocked her out and we're not sure if they are helping much.

The next day, it got bigger all on the back of her knee and turned yellow. It must have poison in it or something.

Any ideas on what it could be or how to cure it please?

i am afraid any member of the family might get the virus. we share the same bathroom together and sometimes i find drops of blood on the floor because she has problems in her blood clotting due to the disease. Does anyone know if this disease can be transmitted through sleeping on the same bed sheets, washing the clothes together, using the same toilet seats. I am real worried about my children. Sometimes their grandmother scratches herself and then they go hug her or sleep next to her. please inform me

Hi

I have been diagnosed with floaters, an eye condition that causes the sufferer to see floaters. Someone with very severe cases of floaters will need to be operated immediately to prevent blindness. Fortunately, the doctor told me that mine is normal floaters and is not that severe.

However, as people with normal floaters grow older, won't their floaters get worse (since floaters is an eye disease commonly associated with older people) ?

So, my question is, are people with floaters very likely to go blind in the future? I've asked this question to my doctor, but he just told me mine is normal floaters, but he said if I begin to notice certain symptoms, i should see a doctor asap.

I'd appreciate any input from experts or anyone with experience on this disease.

Thanks

Thirty years ago, it was estimated that roughly one in 2,500 children had autism, while today some estimate that number to have increased more than tenfold, to as high as one in 166. Why do you think this is?
